High Pressure Closures
Tube Turns' high-pressure closures include many variations of the Double-Bolt, Single-Bolt,
Threaded and Tool-less® in a wide range of ANSI pressure ratings (150 to 2500) and diameters
(2" to 72") to fit customers' vessel diameter and specifications. Tool-less and Double-Bolt closures
are available in sizes from 6" to 72" in diameter. Threaded closures are available in 2" to 36" in
diameter. Single-Bolt closures are available in 2" to 8" in diameter.
Low Pressure Closures
The Company's low-pressure product line includes varying T-Bolt designs from 6" to 72" in
diameter. This product line serve as an access door that allows quick and easy entry into a
nominally pressurized system ranging from product tanks to reactor vessels. Designed for relatively
low-pressure applications and not rated per the ANSI class system, these closures are very
economical for lower pressures.
Threaded Closures
For forty years, Tube Turns has provided Hinged Closures for a wide range of
applications such as Pipeline Scraper Traps, Pig Launchers/Receivers, Filters,
Meter Provers and Pressure Vessels.
Tube Turns supplies Threaded closures in popular sizes ranging from 2" through
24" in ANSI class 150 through 900. Threaded closures in 26" through 36" are
available up to ANSI class 600. Threaded closures are available in horizontal and
vertical orientations. Threaded closures offer safety with a simple design that
consists of only a head, welding hub, pressure warning device, integrated tool to
assist in opening and closing the larger size closures and heavy duty hinging
hardware with adjustable mechanisms on larger sizes. Tube Turns Threaded
Closures are manufactured utilizing the precision of CNC machining to provide
accurate and consistent dimensions.
Safety
Threaded Closures meet ASME Section VIII, Division I requirements. Each Threaded
Closure has a pressure-warning device to alert the operator of any internal pressure
in the pipe or vessel before opening the head. Also, the O-ring gasket seal is
broken before the Hub/Head ACME Threads are completely disengaged which
allows pressure to bleed and provides additional warning to the operator of existing
internal pressure.
Operational Assurance
To assure that the Threaded Closure will consistently open and close easily, Tube
Turns has coated the ACME Threads on the head with a Flouropolymer coating that
provides corrosion resistance and solid film lubrication. This is used in combination
with liberal grease on the threads to assure reliable closure operation. The Pressure
Warning Device is manufactured from Stainless Steel to provide corrosion protection
for this safety item.
Quality Assurance
Additional Information:
Threaded Closure Brochure Tube Turns Quality Control System is in accordance
with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code, Section VIII, Division I, Appendix 10 and is audited by an Authorized
Inspection Agency. ASME Code Stamping and Partial Data Reports are available at
the time of order at a nominal extra cost.

TOOL-LESS Closures
More and more piping engineers and equipment
designers in the oil and gas industry are specifying
extremely quick opening type closures that do not
require tools. Applications include scraper traps, filters,
strainers, separators/coalescers, terminal manifolds,
meter provers, distillation towers, storage tanks or any
pressure vessel requiring frequent access. We are now
pleased to introduce our newest closure product line, the
Tool-less® closure.
Fast, Easy Operation
Tool-less® operation is smooth and direct and even the
largest unit can be opened or closed in a matter of
seconds by one person. Complete installation, operating
and maintenance instructions are furnished with each
Tool-less® closure.
Tube Turns offers Double-Bolt Yoke Style Closures
that are readily adaptable to a wide variety of operating
aids ranging from single-lever chain and sprocket drives to
the completely automated types, which can be operated by
the touch of a button. This is a significant advantage in that
it can be driven by a multiplicity of mechanical, electrical,
hydraulic and pneumatic devices to provide quick opening
and closing for numerous applications.
In addition to this flexibility, our Automated Yoke Style
Closures have other advantages:
Tube Turns Swel Plug Pressure Tester is a rugged, positive-grip end closure
that speeds up and simplifies hydrostatic testing of pipelines and piping assemblies. The
Swel Plug was developed scientifically as a time and money saver.
•It can be installed or removed in minutes and be used over and over
•It is remarkably versatile and each size can handle a wide range of pipe ID's and wall
thicknesses.
•It eliminates the need to attach welding caps, blind flanges, plate blanks, etc. as end seals
for each test.
•It does not require elaborate fixturing or constant adjusting of external clamps and screws.
•It can be used with any test pressure from atmospheric to 3000 psi
Performance and dependability have been proven at numerous field installations and the
Swel Plug Pressure Tester is being used more and more frequently by pipeline contractors,
piping fabricators, mechanical contractors and maintenance departments. Swel Plugs are
perfect for steam cracker and PVC pipe applications.
