MTL Surge
Protection
MTL offers a wide variety of surge protection.  I
don't know of any application we can't do.

Below is a small sampling of some of the most
common devices.

The TP32 is specifically designed to protect process transmitters and
devices on Fieldbus systems. The TP32 is a hybrid design consisting of
high-power, solid state electronics and a gas discharge tube which is
capable of diverting surges up to 10kA. For hazardous-area use, approvals
for both intrinsically safe and flameproof (explosion proof) operation are
available in all gas groups and apparatus temperature classifications up
to T4.

The terminated TP32-T has the same protection circuit as the standard
product, but also includes a Foundation Fieldbus termination circuit. This
unique combination eliminates the need to purchase and install additional
termiantion circuitry for the FF segment.
MTL TP 48 Use with SD32 to protect both ends of the current loop.
Install the TP 48 on your
Field Transmitter.
Use the SD32 on the other
end of the current loop to
protect your front end.

Works great for Tank Level
and other applications
where the field device is
located far from the front
end or PLC.

Ken, Here are the pics.  Hope OK, if not I can redo.

This unit protected "KYZ" contact pulses coming from an electric  utilities
primary meter, 25' away, 4 conductor shielded cable, buried in conduit
inside a substation. The unit's cover was blown off and the unit itself  was
blown off the DIN rail, left hanging by the wires.
Installed a new ZB and my $3200.00 RTU board came back to life with no
problems.

Before installing various Zone Barrier products in the subs, we would
experience 10 - 20 % failures after a major lightning storm.
We have these installed in 29 Subs/Metering points for almost 4 years
without a board failure.
